AGONDA: Canacona MLA and Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday called on the contractors of the new municipality building and directed them to speed up with the work and complete it by March end.
Tawadkar along with Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, deputy chairperson Narcisco Fernandes, councillors Simon Rebello, Sara Desai, Amita Pagi, Gandhesh Madgaonkar and construction advisor Datta Kare jointly inspected the ongoing work on Tuesday.
The new building was constructed through GSUDA at an estimated cost of around Rs 9 cr and had a deadline of 2 years.
“Apart from giving the shops on rent, we are also pondering on the possibilities to sell some of the kiosks. There will be a press room and municipal office on the first floor with individual cabins for chairperson, deputy chairperson, chief officer and engineer. There will be a hall on the second floor with the seating capacity of 700 persons. Parking facilities will also be arranged in the vicnity,” Tawadkar told reporters after the inspection.
Datta Kare said that there will be two lifts in the building; one for citizens and one reserved for specially-abled persons.
