CALANGUTE: Calangute police arrested one person and detained two minors for assaulting some tourists from Bangalore and robbing Rs 35,000 from them on Monday at around 11.30 pm.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that one Mohammed Khalid (27), a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Bangalore, complained that on Monday at around 11.30 pm, four unknown persons had assaulted him and his friends and further robbed cash of Rs 35,000 from his Scorpio jeep.
Acting on the complaint, police identified one of the accused as one Lalsab Nadaf (20), a resident of Ganga Nagar, Mapusa and arrested him on Wednesday afternoon. On interrogation, Nadaf revealed the identity of two other accused – two minor boys, both residents of Parra.
Accordingly, they were brought to police station, produced before the Magistrate of Juvenile Justice Board and lodged at Apna Ghar, Merces. Nadaf is currently in police lockup.
Police have got leads on the whereabouts of the fourth accused and accordingly a team has been dispatched to trace him.
Police said that that some of the accused are anti-social elements and have crimes registered against them.
The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi by PSI Mahesh Naik, Constable Vidyanand Amonkar, Sanjyot Kerkar and others.
Calangute police have registered an FIR against the accused under Sections 341, 394 r/w 34 of IPC.
