MARGAO: Vasco Sports Club registered back-to-back wins in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League after edging past Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 1-0 at Sports Authority of Goa ground, Utorda, on Saturday.
The win takes the Port Towners to 17 points from 15 matches while Velsao SCC are on 11 points after playing a game less than their opponent. Vasco SCC got out of their slump and recorded seven points from last three games.
It was their foreign recruit who came to his side’s rescue once again as Henry Ezeh scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute of the first half. Vasco’s Shubham went into the referee’s books in the first session for breaking a promising move of Velsao.
The first half saw end-to-end football with both teams having their brief share of possession.
In the second half, neither side were able to break the deadlock and score as the score line remained 1-0 till the final whistle.
