GFA all set to change constitution on July 18

The Goa Football Association (GFA) is all set to become the first state association of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to adopt its statutes on the principles of FIFA Standard Statutes at its Extraordinary General Meeting on July 18.
GFA General Secretary, Savio Messias informed that the EGM will be followed by the association’s AGM. A total of 180 delegates, including representatives from 155 registered clubs, life members and members of the executive committee, jury of appeal and founders are expected to attend the meetings.
The AFC had suggested several amendments in the GFA Statutes, including the election of the executive committee to be done at the general body, full-time appointment of the general secretary, independence of judicial bodies, specification of voting rights to members, role of Goa Referees Association in the qCongress.
The GFA had set up a committee in order to redraft the existing statutes in line with AIFF statutes and on the principles of FIFA Standard Statutes. The committee consisted of legal experts and prominent members of the GFA Executive Committee. Assistance from AIFF and AFC was also sought in this matter.
The adoption of new statutes is the first step towards implementation of the Vision India-Project Goa.
The AFC Vision Asia team has also asked the GFA to amend its rule of participation of players in the leagues and make sure that players playing in the Indian League do not take part in the local league.
