PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday assured to attempt to resolve, within the next 15 to 20 days, the issue Goans are facing in seeking Portuguese passports.
“Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai has brought to my notice the issue of Goans facing difficulty for Portuguese passport, I would try to get it resolved within the next 15 to 20 days,” Parrikar said, on the sidelines of a government function at the Secretariat.
Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Wednesday had sought the intervention of the Chief Minister in doing away with the process of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) verifying the birth details of Goan applicants for Portuguese passports.
“According to the new rules it is mandatory to have verification of their birth records through the Ministry of External Affairs, which is a long procedure. Earlier the Portuguese Consulate in Goa verified the records making it easier for the applicant. Sardesai had said.
