PANJIM: Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Sunday admitted that tiatr instills fear in the minds of politicians by portraying social realities.
Gaude was speaking at the Tiatr Day celebration organised by the Kala Academy Goa in collaboration with the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) and the Institute Menezes Braganza (IBM) at the Institute Menezes Braganza main auditorium, Panjim.

“Tiatrists have always highlighted what is happening the society and have kept a tab on politicians. Let me admit that even politician like me fear tiatrists,” he said.
Speaking further, Gaude said that tiatr having 130 years of history has contributed immensely to promote Konkani not only in the State but also across the world. He said that tiatr many a times portray a real life incident and create social awareness among the people and also sends a strong message having effect on the minds of the people.
Tiatr Academy of Goa President Menino Fernandes and Vice President Mario Menezes were also present.
Later, speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the programme, Gaude said that the renovated Kala Academy will be opened for public shows from August this year. He said that the work of strengthening structure has almost been completed. He said that PWD engineers, architect, Kala Academy member secretary and himself are monitoring the ongoing work.
The minister also disclosed that the foundation stone for the proposed Ravindra Bhavan at Sanguem will be laid soon while the government is in the process of acquiring land for proposed Ravindra Bhavan at Mapusa, after finalising settlement with two tenants.
