FATORDA: Chandor Club defeated Goa Velha SC 3-1 to move into the finals of the 18th Bro Eulalio Vaz Memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory,Fatorda and played at Fatorda ground, on Tuesday.
Just in the second minute, Succor Fernandes netted the first goal for Chandor with an arrow bond shot.
Immediately, Chandor club had the best chance through Leno D’Sa but the striker failed to shoot the ball on the target in the 4th minute.
In the 8th minute, Goa Velha had the best scoring chance as Chandan Gawas the striker took control of the ball from Joseph Rodrigues dribbled past Rosario Fernandes and Cruz Gomes of Chandor and shot from the top of the Chandor box but Presley Mascarenhas keeper of Chandor pushed the ball away to safety in the 9th minute.
Minutes later, Nilesh Mangueshkar failed to connect the ball from Yogendra Thapa of Goa Velha.
With just three minutes left for the first half, a well taken scissor shot of Succor Fernandes was denied by the Goa Velha post.
In the 38th minute Chandor netted the second through Benson Fernandes. Chandor further inflated the lead through Leno D’Sa in the 46th minute.
With just six minutes left for the full-time whistle a defensive lapse cost Chandor as Goa Velha pulled a goal back through Prasel Kankonkar.
