Calangute Association’s breakthrough came in the 11th minute, when Elvino Fernandes’ rasping shot hit rival defender Cruz Gomes, while trying to avert the danger and entered the goal.
Post resumption, Goa Velha were a transformed unit. They moved more men in upfront in search of equalizer but Revellino’s rasping left-footer was blocked by Calangute Association goalkeeper Gerald D’Mello.
Midway, Goa Velha midfielder Oilex Olveira floated the ball inside the box but Chatur Naik failed to guide his header into the net after Calangute Association goalkeeper fumbled in his collection.
Calangute Association did not have too many chances in the second session and they appeared to be cruising to victory but their opponents kept the best for last.
Goa Velha continued to attack even in the injury time and won a crucial free-kick in a dangerous position. Oilex Olveira guided the free-kick towards Trevor, whose shot deflected off rival defender John Dias and eluded the Calangute Association goalkeeper, 1-1.
