PANJIM: Don Bosco College, Panjim, will play St Xavier’s College, Mapusa and Carmel College, Nuvem, will take on Rosary College, Navelim, in the semi-finals of the Inter-Collegiate Football Women Championship, 2022-2023 organised by Goa University.
In the quartersfinals played at Goa University ground, Carmel College, Nuvem defeated GEC Farmagudi 3-0. In the first half, Carmel College scored two goals through Rashal Pearl Vaz (6th minute) and a self-goal by Alina N Aga in the 9th minute. In the second half Carmel managed to score one more goal in the 37th minute through Agnes Fernandes.
In another quarter finals, ,Rosary College, Navelim thrashed Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim 7-0. The defending champions dominated the proceedings and scored two goals in the first half netted by Flani Costa (5th) and Rizella Almeida (14th).
In the second half, Rosary were in the attacking mood and pumped in five more with goals coming from Jyoti Fernandes, Jossel Mascarenhas, Myra D’silva, Aniela Barretto and Rhea Pires in the 38th, 41nd, 43rd, 52nd and 58th minutes respectively.
In another quarters played at Rosary Church ground Navelim, Don Bosco College, Panjim defeated Fr Agnel, Pilar 4-0. Alisia Fernandes put DBC ahead from the spot in the 6th minute. Later Karen Estrocio scored a hat-trick of goals in the 12th, 20th and 22nd minutes. There was no score in the second-half.
In the last quarter-finals played at Rosary Church ground Navelim, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa trounced MES College, Zuarinagar 7-0. Star performer was Pushapa Parab scoring a hat-trick. Agnela Antao netted a brace while Ishakka Mandrekar and Namita Govekar scored one apiece.
