MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy Sanquelim huffed and puffed before they finally managed to register a solitary goal win over Goan Warriors Sports Club in the GFA’s U-20 2nd Division League match played at Sanquelim ground, on Friday.
After much probing finally in the 16th minute Sesa FA were awarded with a penalty after Goan Warriors’s Videsh Sawant was caught in the act of handling the ball inside the penalty box.
Lionel D’Souza stepped forward and calmly placed the ball at the back of the net before he sent the keeper in the wrong direction to make it 1-0.
On crossing over, Sesa FA should have doubled their lead but the rival keeper saved a shot from Lionel who had brilliantly dribbled past a few defenders before he made the strike.
At the other end, in the 71st minute, Goan Warriors’s Dikshay Sarap’s power-packed strike was collected by Sesa FA keeper Runal Gaonkar.
Just three minutes before the final hooter, Youraj Gaonkar missed an open sitter for Sesa FA colts.
