Holy Cross, Ponda, emerged champions in Ponda taluka football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Mardol beating YSC Shiroda 2-1 in the finals at Mardol. They won the trophy and Rs 10,000.
Manuel Dias put Holy Cross into the lead but Chandan equalised. Manuel scored the match-winner.
Following prizes were awarded: Best disciplined team Devkikrishna, Marcela. Best player of tournament Manuel Dias of Holy Cross. First scorer of finals Manuel Dias.
Darma Chodancar, president, Softball Association of Goa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Chandrakant Gaude, president of USC Mardol welcomed. Mahesh Mardolkar, treasurer proposed the vote of thanks.
