Goa ‘one of the best governed small State’

PANJIM: Goa is ranked as one of the Best Governed State in the small States category by Public Affairs Centre (PAC) in its Public Affairs Index (PAI). 
According to a press statement, performance of Goa in all pillars has been above average. In the PAI, it was noted that the State appeared among the top three in 21 indicators, with majority of the indicators belonging to the Growth Pillar.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant expressed happiness as Goa has been ranked the best Governed Small state by public Affairs Centre. 
“This award is testimony to our Ex-chief minister late Manohar Parrikar’s dedication towards progress and development of Goa. We are truly committed to carry forward the legacy of late Parrikar,” Sawant said.
PAC has also mentioned that, the State performed well in diverse sectors, that is, lower drop, lesser slums, reduction in infant deaths, lower incidence of crimes against women, increase in growth rate of GSDP per capita, better solid waste management etc.
The State is at the bottom three in 12 indicators with majority of the indicators belonging to the equity pillar.
PAI 2019 recommended the State to focus on the functioning of the ICDS programme, especially to improve health, education and nutritional outcome for the children.
