PETS candidates face new hurdle

It appears waiting period of Pre Employment Training Scheme (PETS) candidates for regularisation in service is not yet over.
A writ petition has been filed before Bombay High Court at Goa against the State Government’s decision to regularise services of PETS beneficiaries.
One Shanti Desai and two others have approached High Court complaining that regularisation of PETS beneficiaries would be detrimental to the interest of candidates from the open category.
Regularisation of PETS will lead to violation of their fundamental rights as mandated by the constitution of India, claimed the petitioners.
When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday counsel for the petitioners George John submitted that if 50 percent seats are reserved for PETS beneficiaries than candidates in the open class will not chance to apply for the posts. He prayed that no further appointments be made by the State government until petition is disposed off.
The Advocate General Subodh Kantak sought time to file affidavit in reply. The hearing was adjourned till May 3 and directed the government to file reply by the next date of hearing.
