Daily over 20 such vehicles are seen illegally parked by the roadside near the wholesale fish market.

Reportedly, few days ago the Margao civic body along with Traffic Cell had carried out a drive against the owners of such vehicles, and many had been issued challans for obstructing traffic. These owners were warned of strict actions if they continued such violations.

“All such vehicles need to move away once the fish is unloaded but they are seen parked on the roadside for hours,” said Milagres Fernandes, a resident of Madel, Margao.

Another resident said, “Most vehicles are from other States. No stern action from the concerned authorities has given them free hand to park without any fear.”

He demanded that the Traffic Cell and Transport Department should cancel their permits and licences for violating the traffic rules or they should be given an open space to park the vehicles.
