PANJIM: The Manohar Parrika- led government is set to lift the recruitment ban in government as well as government-aided departments, imposed by the previous government, by this month end. In the first phase recruitment ban in educational institutions, of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians will be lifted next week.
Speaking to media persons, Parrikar said that by this month end, all employment oriented issues would be settled, with the government planning a policy on recruitment in the government sector.
“In the first phase, next week, I will lift the ban imposed on recruitments in educational institutions, grant-in-aid institutions, recruitments of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians. I have already issued the order in this regard. The file is yet to be sent back to me,” he said.
“In case of other departments, the examination is on. Considering the requirements in each department, on case-to-case basis, the ban will be lifted,” Parrikar said.
It is learnt that newly-inducted ministers have already discussed the matter with the Chief Minister, who has assured to look it at the earliest.
Ahead of the 2017 polls, the then Laxmikant Parsekar government had imposed ban on all recruitment for smoother implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations to employees. The decision had affected nearly 1400 recruitments – in many cases where procedures had been completed. The ban was to be reviewed in six months.
The ban on recruitments was a key factor that led to split of the then alliance between BJP and MGP before the polls. The decision is also considered as one of the factors that went against the BJP in the elections.
