MARGAO/PONDA: Exactly a month after she was arrested in the cash-for-jobs scam, queen-pin Pooja Naik got bail on Friday along with five others who have together been accused of siphoning off lakhs of rupees from gullible job aspirants with the promise of government employment.
Apart from Pooja, the Ponda court also granted bail to another queen-pin, Shruti Akshay Prabhugaonkar, a former BJP Yuva Morcha member and niece of BJP leader. The others who received bail were schoolteacher Yogesh Cuncolienkar, Shruti’s alleged aide, and Aniket Khandolkar, who was reportedly a former office staffer of Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude.
Meanwhile, two women who had been arrested by Margao police in a job racket were released on conditional bail by the judicial magistrate’s court. Vishaya Gawde of Sao Jose De Areal and Soniya alias Roshan Somnath Achari from Sadashivgad, Karwar, have been asked to report at the Margao police station for seven days and as and when directed by cops and not to leave the State without the court’s permission.
