MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes made a fervent appeal to the taxpayers of Margao Municipality jurisdiction to pay their outstanding dues to the civic body as the Council is running short of revenue which has significantly affected the salary process.
He also appealed that while MMC has been business and citizen friendly all along, specially due to his and his Council’s efforts to provide prompt service to the citizens, it has been brought to light that a large amount of arrears are still outstanding owing to taxpayers not coming forward to clear the outstanding house tax due from citizens.

The Chief Officer has been instrumental in deploying additional recovery teams but it has been discovered that the amount of arrears is very huge.
The people centric CO has also appealed to the Chairperson and Councillors to assist in the collection of outstanding revenue for the MMC.
“The friendly relations between MMC and citizens as also the business community must always prevail and we need to help each other by cooperating and living and doing business in a comprehensive manner and clearing outstanding tax dues owned by the citizens to the Municipality”, he stated.
He added that the taxation department is working round the clock to assist citizens and business houses to clear outstanding dues round-the-clock by co-operating and in a friendly manner.
“My offices are open to anyone who has any difficulty in clearing dues and my office can assist the citizens towards a robust and quick payment of all dues outstanding,” said CO.
He termed this as his fervent personal appeal on behalf of the council for the better functioning of the Municipality.
