PANJIM: The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Apurva Nagvenkar Tuesday directed the Crime Branch to complete the investigation in the case registered against Goa’s Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar for alleged grabbing of Serula Communidade land within a month.
The JMFC also issued a show-cause notice to the Investigating Officer Police Inspector Sidhanth Shirodkar for not submitting the fortnightly status report of the investigation which was due Tuesday.
On August 14, the court had directed the Crime Branch to file a status report every 15 days on the investigation into the FIR on cheating, registered on January 17, 2014, against Parulekar in the 599 sq mts Serula Communidade alleged land grab case.
Based on a petition filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Mapusa JMFC had on January 16, 2014, directed the Porvorim Police to register an FIR against Parulekar for offences under sections 119, 120, 420 read with 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, Peter Martins, then attorney of Comunidade of Serula and Irene Sequeira, then Administrator of Comunidades of Bardez and to investigate the matter. The Porvorim Police accordingly registered the FIR on January 17 and later on April 4 transferred the investigation to the Crime Branch.
Rodrigues in his complaint had drawn the court’s attention that the 599 sq mts of prime land on the CHOGM road at Porvorim given to Parulekar was without any auction and without following proper procedure under the Code of Comunidade and that the whole intention was to fraudulently facilitate the doling out of prime Comunidade land to him.
