PONDA: Rossman Cruz Nagoa-Verna beat Goa Warriors, Tivim 5-4 via the tie-breaker and entered the semi-finals of 30th All Goa St. Anne’s Festival Soccer organised by Ponda Footballers in association with Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC, at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, on Monday.
In the 3rd minute Rossman took the lead as Noel got a loose ball on top of the box and his powerful shot pierced the net. Verna could have doubled the lead but Hilton’s shot was punched out by the Tivim keeper.
At other end, the Tivim attack lacked urgency and Verna in run of play increased the lead when from the flanks as Noel chipped the ball to Hilton but his shot was blocked by the Tivim keeper.
In the second half, Tivim went all out attack as Vijet, Madhu and Rohit shots were saved by the Verna keeper. Tivim got a free-kick and Vijet chipped to Madhu who gave a diagonal pass Tushar whose power shot brought the equaliser.
In the tie-breaker Eusebio, Noel, Hilton and Viyal scored for Rossman Cruz while Tushar, Vijet and Projot scored for the Tivim side. Preston Rego won the man-of-the-match.
