The North Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association (NGTTOA) at its general body meeting at St Alex Church Hall, Calangute, on Saturday has resolved to take the matter of their pending demands with Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
The Association members were of the view that the matter of renewal of permits for the 800 cc vehicles should now be taken up directly with the chief minister through Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes.
The NGTTOA members have decided to call on Fernandes to explain their position on the issue and intervene in their genuine demand of renewal of permits for the 800 cc vehicles without any further delay.
The NGTTOA felt that delay on part of the concerned authorities is killing their business and has decided to meet the chief minister to resolve the pending issue. The NGTTOA has also come to the conclusion that there is no reason in keeping their genuine demand pending when other states in the country issue permits to 750 cc and 850 cc vehicles.
The NGTTOA also claimed that the State government should consider a minimal rise in hire charges due to steep hikes in petroleum products.
Others issues discussed at the meeting included insurance and discount on spares.
Vasudev Arlekar (president) welcomed the guests of Sai Service and LIC, while Vinayak Nanoskar (secretary) proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting was attended by Ravindra Vengurlekar (vice president), Pradeep Shirodker (treasurer), Vivek Korgaonkar (joint secretary), Rajen Palyekar, Sanjay Vengurlekar, Irenieu Gonsalves among others.
