CALANGUTE: A security guard was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at Pilerne on Friday.

The incident occurred late on Thursday night when the accused, Jalam Mahor (52) , allegedly groped and inappropriately fondled the girl. When the girl narrated the incident to her mother, she rushed to the Porvorim police station and lodged a complaint at around 1.20 am on Friday, following which Mahor, was arrested by Porvorim police.
An offence under sections 74 and 75 of BNS, sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act and section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act has been registered against Mahor, a native of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the JMFC Mapusa. Further investigations are on.
