MARGAO: A fine brace each by Myron Fernandes and Rosario Carvalho helped Cuncolim Union thump Candolim Sports Club 4-2 and cruise into the semi-finals of All-Goa 42nd Custodio memorial inter-village football tournament at Manora ground, Raia, Thursday. Candolim led 2-1 at half time.
Cuncolim Union started in right earnest and took the lead in the 10th minute when Myron Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a stiff grounder. Stunned by the setback Candolim intensified their forays and a minute later striker Sagar Batkunde leveled the scores when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Spurred by the equalizer, Candolim conducted well orchestrated raids and found the success when C D’Souza punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 20th minute.
Post resumption, Cuncolim Union neutralized the deficit through Rosario Carvalho.
Inspired by the equalizer, Cuncolim Union struck through Myron.
Rosario Carvalho drove the final nail into the rival coffin late in the second half to complete his brace.
