Raju elected as president of SCC Cavelossim

RAIA: In a one sided contest, veteran player and long time Sports Secretary Raju Cardozo defeated Prince Pereira by 36-9 votes to become the new president of Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim for a two-year term. Dixon Vaz was elected unopposed for the post of club chairman.

The following are the other members of Managing Committee elected unanimously: Vice-Chairman Viriato Mendes, Vice-President Dionizio Dias, Secretary Francis Rodrigues, Assistant Secretary Ceasar Aguiar, Treasurer Jitendra Chodancar, Assistant Treasurer Daryl Dias, Sports Secretary Peter Cardozo, Joint Sports Secretary Agnelo Passanhas and Glenn Gracias, Auditor Oswin Mendes, Immediate Past President Viano Rodrigues, Executive Committee Members Anthony Cardozo, Sam Mendes, Natty Fernandes, Hipolito Fernandes, Malcom Rodrigues, Minguel Rodrigues and Kiety Caldeira.

Earlier, Sam Mendes outgoing chairman welcomed the members for the 76th annual general meeting (AGM) of the club. Secretary Viriato Mendes read the minutes of the last AGM and report of activities.

Treasurer Dionizio Dias presented the audited statements of accounts for the year 2023-24 which were unanimously approved.

The following persons were felicitated on the occasion: Valroy Travasso, Valanka Travasso and Deoncy Lobo (SCC top rankers). In the field of sports, Breann Kate Vaz; in the social field Bosco Rodrigues, in the cultural field (posthumously) Rufina D’Souza, in the field of education Ninochka Mendes.

Parish Priest Fr Ubaldo Fernandes and Fr Savio Coutinho, SFX, were awarded a certificate of Life Time Achievement for their contribution in the spiritual and temporal services to the people.

Outgoing President Viano Rodrigues thanked Sarpanch Dixon Vaz and the villagers in United Kingdom for their support to the club and hoped that they will continue to extend their cooperation and help the club in the years to come.
