Goa’s unemployment crisis: Leader of Opposition slams BJP for failure to create jobs

MARGAO: Referring to the recent CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy) Report that revealed that 70 percent of graduates are unemployed in Goa, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao alleged that the BJP government has no plan of action to create employment opportunities and provide jobs.

“It has been proven, that the BJP Government failed to run the State effectively over the past 10 years. The government must take up Skill Development Training and focus on job creation,” he said. “What happened to the BJP’s promise of two crore jobs a year? What happened to the unemployment dole promised in 2012? In reality, all these promises turned out to be ‘jumlas’ depriving educated youth of employment opportunities,” said Alemao.

The Leader of Opposition pointed out that a few months back the Chief Minister had rejected the high unemployment rate reported by CMIE, terming it baseless. “Now, CM Sawant is compelled to take cognizance of the report. A few days back,  NITI Ayog headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also exposed the high unemployment rate in Goa,” he added.

“It is disheartening that the BJP Government, which organised a ‘Mega Job Fair’ as a publicity stunt has no data of the unemployment in Goa. This came to light from the replies given to questions raised in the Assembly,”alleged Alemao.
