PANJIM: The Panjim police have arrested a woman for allegedly running a sex racket and trafficking girls from other states for the illicit trade.
On a tip off that the accused Bi Shriya would be accompanied by some young girls allegedly brought to Goa for sex trade, the police raided the area near Goa Lodge late on Friday
“She was caught red handed with the victims and arrested subsequently. One victim girl was rescued and lodged at Protective Home, Merces,” PI Siddhant Shirodkar said.
Shriya (46), residing at Vasco and but hailing from Andhra Pradesh, is booked under Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 370 (trafficking of persons) of the Indian Penal Code.
