MAPUSA: A history-sheeter was booked by the Mapusa police for allegedly threatening three sports persons over a parking row at Karaswaddo in Cunchelim on Saturday.

The incident took place on late Friday night and the shooters had to fire from a practice weapon after being threatened by Shailesh Garad, said North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal.
“The trio who are taking part in the upcoming National Games, had stopped at a restaurant to have dinner. Garad then entered into a heated argument with them over a parking issue and damaged their car with a stone,” said police.
“Scared of being attacked, one of the shooters took out his air pistol and fired in the air which created a huge sound that frightened Garad and then the trio fled from the area,” said police
The sports shooters are currently in Goa to participate in a shooting competition organised at Morjim. As per complaint filed by Cuchelim resident Shailesh Garad, the shooters fired in the air five times, twice at Karaswada and later when he followed their rent-a-car along with his friends.
Garad on his part said that he had reformed and was not involved in any criminal activities for past over six years.
“The firing was an attempt to scare the history sheeter Shailendra Garad, who hit their car with a brick, but no bullet was fired,” SP North, Akshat Kaushal said.
The accused had seven serious cases against him, two of which were attempt to murder. When asked, the North Goa SP said that seven shots were fired. “Both sides will be investigated,” Kaushal said.
