The British prime minister arrived with a delegation of 126 executives, business leaders, and university heads, joking that he needed a larger plane to accommodate them, while urging them to return with new business deals.

While neither leader directly referenced US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, both emphasized a cooperative approach to trade. Speaking at a global fintech conference on Thursday, PM Modi stated, “India and UK have shown the world the way on global trade and using that trade as a win-win partnership.”
Starmer echoed the sentiment, describing the expanded partnership with India as “a huge win” for both countries. He told reporters before departing Mumbai, “In a world more uncertain in trade and the economy, it is significant that two important and great democracies, the UK and India, have signed this agreement, providing stability and certainty, because that’s what creates opportunities.”
The visit underscores the growing economic collaboration between India and the UK as both nations navigate an increasingly unpredictable global trade environment.
