RAIA: CRC Chinchinim moved into the quarter-finals of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025, organised by Maina Sports Club, after defeating Mandopa Sporting in a nail-biting 10-9 finish via tie-breaker at the St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
Mandopa Sporting took an early lead when Noah Luis found the net in the 9th minute to make it 1-0. Just a minute later, Meliston Dias doubled the advantage in the 10th minute. However, Chinchinim pulled one back through Preston Fernandes in the 18th minute to end the first half at 1-2.
In the second half, Preston Fernandes once again came to Chinchinim’s rescue, scoring the equaliser in the 39th minute to make it 2-2.
In the tie-breaker, CRC Chinchinim proved to be the better shooters, clinching the match 8-7 to secure their place in the quarter-finals.
CRC Chinchinim goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes received man-of-the-match award from Francisco Xavier, Panchayat Vice-President of Curtorim.
