Ministers should take criticismpositively, says MLA

Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday emphasised that ministers must remain open to public criticism and sensitive to people’s opinions while implementing development projects.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly built Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) administrative building, where he also laid foundation stones for the River Front Project and Palika Bazaar, Rane said:

“Ministers should accept criticism in a positive way. Being a minister doesn’t mean we know everything. If we go wrong, we must have the humility to apologise to the public with folded hands.”

He recalled an earlier incident involving the transfer of a woman over the IIT issue and admitted that he had later apologised for the action.

Rane also assured that additional staff and financial support would be provided to construct two more floors for the PMC building.

The event was attended by PMC Chairperson Anand Naik, Vice Chairperson Deepa Colvekar, councillors, officials, and Chief Officer Suyash Khandeparkar.
