All Goa Kannada Mahasangh Urges Mauvin Godinho to Field Kannadiga Candidate from Cortalim

The All Goa Kannada Mahasangh (AGKM) has appealed to Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho to consider fielding a Kannadiga candidate from the Cortalim constituency, citing the sizable Kannada-speaking population in the Zuarinagar area.

AGKM president Siddhanna Meti said the organisation appreciates Minister Godinho’s openness to allowing non-Goans to contest elections but urged him to also recognise the contribution and numerical strength of the Kannada community in the region.

Meti added that the Kannadiga population forms the majority among migrants in Zuarinagar, and therefore, the community deserves representation through a candidate from their ranks.

“We request that a member of the Kannada community be nominated to represent the demographic majority in Cortalim,” Meti stated, emphasising that such a move would ensure inclusive representation and acknowledgement of the community’s role in Goa’s social fabric.
