MAPUSA: Vasco Sports Club and Sesa Football Academy were locked in a goalless draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
After this drawn encounter Sesa FA have 10 points from seven matches, while Vasco SC have 8 points from six matches.
Vasco SC having lost to Geno FC and Sesa FA drawn to Clube de Salgaocar played aggressively to return home with a win.
It was Sesa FA lads that had the first attempt at the rival goal where a stiff grounder by striker U-21 Saiesh Gaunkar from just outside the penalty box was confidently collected by Vasco SC’s custodian Roni Das with a full stretched diving save.
As the match progressed, it was Port Towner’s who time and again attacked the rival citadel.
In the 4th minute, Vasco SC’s Ngulgoulal Singsit dribbled past Sesa FA’s Pradip Aheibam and drilled a power-packed right-footer which was brilliantly blocked by Sesa FA’s custodian Micky Dias.
Two more chances went abegging for Vasco SC when Mangminlal Haokip saw his strikes being saved by Sesa FA’s custodian and minutes later a block brought up by Sesa FA’s defender Pradip Aheibam.
On crossing over, both the team’s coaches brought two changes which saw the ball travel from one end to the other but it was once again smart goalkeeping by the custodians that came to the teams rescue.
Sesa FA’s substitute Cain Fernandes darting inside the 18-yard box latched a stinging left footer which was brilliantly fisted for a corner by Vasco SC’s custodian Roni Das.
At the other end, Sesa FA’s substitute Salman Khan set the ball to Russell Vaz who drove a rasping strike which deflected the rival defender for a corner.
In the 79th minute, Vasco SC’s striker Ngulgoulal Singsit’s shirt was pulled by Sesa FA’s defender Venito Costa just outside the penalty box, prompting Referee Deepraj Tari to award a direct free-kick.
Ngulgoulal strike hit Sesa FA’s Russell leg for a corner.
In the stoppage time, Sesa FA Salman’s corner saw Vasco SC’s custodian Roni Das bring a smart save before Sesa FA’s Russell could nod the ball home.
