VASCO: A police constable attached to Mormugao police station was assaulted by three persons at Headland Sada during the wee hours of Wednesday.
All the three accused, Ravi Vernekar, Govind Dhargalkar and Nandkumar Kule are reportedly absconding.
PSI Sajit Pillai said the police constable was attacked by three persons, during night patrolling duty opposite Sheetal Bar at Headland Sada.
One of the accused assaulted my constable by pushing him and catching his collar. He also abused him with filthy language and threatened him with dire consequences, he said.
Later, when a lot of people gathered at the site and while the police were clearing the crowd, the accused persons fled the scene and are absconding, he added.
A case has been booked under IPC sections 353 (public servant from discharge of his duty), 341, 323, 504, 506(ii) read with 34 (common intention) against the accused assailants.
