Parliament Winter Session 2025: Sitharaman to Table Central Excise Amendment Bill as Disruptions Ease

On the third day of the Parliament’s Winter Session 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to introduce the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha for consideration and passage. The last two days witnessed repeated adjournments as Opposition parties demanded an immediate debate on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 12 states.

The stalemate broke on Tuesday after both the government and the Opposition reached an agreement to hold a detailed discussion on the SIR next week in the Lok Sabha. This debate will follow a special session marking 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
