MAPUSA/RAIA: Holiday Sports Club Arpora produced a major upset by defeating table-toppers Goan Warriors FC, 1-0, in the GFA Second Division League match played at the Mayem ground, on Wednesday.
The decisive goal came in the 10th minute of the first half when striker Saish Palyekar finished calmly after receiving a well-timed through pass from Darshan Pujari to put Arpora ahead.
Goan Warriors mounted immense pressure in the second half in search of an equaliser, but Holiday SC goalkeeper Krushik Bagi turned in a brilliant performance, making a series of crucial saves to preserve the narrow lead and seal a memorable win.
In another encounter, Chicalim SV held Vasco United FC to a 4-4 draw in the Mormugao zone match played at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
Roshan Kharat struck a brace for Chicalim SV, while Deepesh Saroj and Sahil Belgoji added a goal each. For Vasco United FC, Riston Gomes scored twice, with Abraham Puduparambil and Declan Goes also finding the net
