Musheli Kala Mandal on Sunday laid the foundation stone and formally launched construction of the Akkalkot Swami Samarth Temple at Bhutebhat, Vasco, marking a significant milestone for the organisation and its members.
The foundation ceremony was led by Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar and Musheli Kala Mandal president and Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Girish Borker, in the presence of mandal members and a large gathering of devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, Arjun Shet Tanavde said that for the past 60 years Musheli Kala Mandal did not have its own vastu, and all religious and cultural activities were conducted at the Tanavde residence. He said this created a strong desire among members to have a dedicated temple and office of their own.
He added that after deliberations at a general body meeting, members collectively decided to purchase land, following which work on a small Swami Samarth temple has now commenced at the site.
The temple is expected to serve as a spiritual and cultural centre for devotees and members of Musheli Kala Mandal in the coming years.
