Shocking details have emerged in the murder of an MBA student in Indore’s Dwarkapuri area, with police revealing that the accused, Piyush Dhamnotiya, allegedly attempted to summon the spirit of the victim hours after killing her. The accused is currently on a three-day police remand, as investigators piece together the sequence of events surrounding the crime.
According to the police, Dhamnotiya travelled to a secluded area in Panvel near Mumbai after the murder, where he lit incense sticks, watched YouTube videos on “how to summon spirits,” and whispered apologies into the darkness, claiming he wanted to speak to the ‘aatma’ (spirit) of the woman he had killed.

CCTV footage has played a crucial role in the investigation. Cameras installed near the victim’s residence captured Dhamnotiya arriving with the student on February 10. Approximately two and a half hours later, the same cameras recorded him leaving the house alone, carrying a bag.
Investigators believe the crime was premeditated and that what transpired inside the room was part of a calculated plan. Forensic teams are examining the scene, while police are also analysing digital evidence, including the accused’s online activity and search history.
The disturbing revelations have sent shockwaves across Indore, reigniting concerns about women’s safety and the need for stronger preventive measures. Police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that all aspects of the case will be brought before the court.
