Residents of Siolim-Marna have resolved to oppose any new construction in the village until a comprehensive carrying capacity survey is conducted and basic infrastructure concerns are addressed.
During a Gram Sabha meeting held on Sunday, villagers collectively demanded that authorities undertake a scientific assessment to determine the village’s ability to sustain further development. They insisted that no fresh building permissions should be granted unless residents are assured a minimum of 12 hours of daily water supply.

Concerns Over Strained Infrastructure
Participants at the meeting raised serious concerns about what they described as unregulated construction, stating that rapid development is placing mounting pressure on local infrastructure. Roads, electricity supply, and water resources were cited as areas already under stress.
Villagers emphasized that unchecked growth without proper planning could adversely affect the quality of life in the area.
Call for Strict Enforcement of Development Norms
The Gram Sabha also called for stricter enforcement of development regulations. Residents urged authorities to ensure compliance with mandatory building setbacks, adequate parking provisions for roadside projects, and adherence to prescribed Floor Area Ratio (FAR) norms.
