Trustees of the Street Providence Trust inaugurated an old age home-cum-medical dispensary for widows in Manipur on February 27, in collaboration with St Thomas Parish, Singngat. The initiative aims to extend shelter, care, and medical support to vulnerable women in the region.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of chief guest Chinlunthang, MLA of the 60 Singngat Assembly Constituency, and guest of honour Dharun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district. The home was blessed by Linus Neli, Archbishop of Imphal.

Among those present were Rev Fr Varghese Vellikakam, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Imphal; Haukholien Munluo, Chief of Singngat; Samuel Lhungdim, SDO of Singngat; Rev Fr Athanasius Mung, Parish Priest; and Dr Steve M. Tungnung, Medical Officer In-Charge at Singngat. Donald Fernandes, founder of the Street Providence Trust, Goa, also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Archbishop Neli said the initiative reflects a mission of compassion and care for widows and the elderly by providing shelter, dignity, and access to essential healthcare services. The project is expected to serve as a source of support and hope for vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society in the region.
