The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Tuesday dismissed viral social media claims suggesting a shortage of cow ghee used in preparing the famous Srivari Laddu prasadam at Tirumala Temple. Authorities clarified that laddu preparation has not been affected and adequate ghee stocks are available.
The clarification came after a video of a tanker accident circulated widely online. Several social media posts claimed the tanker was carrying ghee meant for the temple and that the spill had disrupted the preparation of the prasadam.
In an official statement, TTD urged devotees not to believe “false propaganda,” stressing that there is no shortage of cow ghee. The temple administration said the ghee used for the Srivari Laddu prasadam is sourced through a three-tier procurement system involving three different suppliers.
According to the trust, this system ensures uninterrupted supply even if one vendor faces an unexpected disruption.
TTD confirmed that a tanker belonging to Indapur Dairy met with an accident near Kondapur in Kadapa district while transporting ghee to Tirumala. However, the authority said the incident had no impact on overall supplies, as deliveries from the other two firms are continuing normally.
The temple body also noted that around seven lakh Srivari Laddu Prasadams are currently available for distribution to devotees, indicating that preparation and supply remain unaffected.
With pilgrim numbers expected to increase during the summer season, TTD said advance arrangements have already been made to ensure uninterrupted laddu production.
