Union Minister Piyush Goyal has assured that India is not facing any shortage of fuel despite growing uncertainty in global energy markets triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Addressing concerns about potential disruptions in fuel supplies, Goyal said the government is closely monitoring developments and taking necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across the country.
Speaking to the media in Tiruchirappalli, the minister emphasised that authorities remain vigilant and are continuously assessing the evolving situation in the region.
“There is absolutely no shortage of fuel. More details are being worked out. A serious war is going on. In this situation, there will be concerns that will be made known to everybody from time to time by the relevant departments. They are monitoring the situation very closely,” Goyal said.
His remarks come amid rising global supply concerns following the conflict in West Asia, which has led several countries to review their energy preparedness.
Earlier this week, the Union Government invoked the Essential Commodities Act to stabilise the domestic energy market amid mounting global supply pressures. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a control order directing refineries and petrochemical units to maximise the production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas and divert key hydrocarbon streams to the LPG pool.
The move aims to maintain a steady supply of cooking gas across the country and prevent any disruption in the availability of essential fuel products during the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
