Calangute Residents Urge Police to Act Against Roadside Solicitation, Seek Strict Monitoring of Spas

The Neighbourhood Watch Committee has urged Calangute Police Station to take strict action against roadside solicitation in the area, citing growing concerns among residents.

The demand was raised following a meeting held on March 11 between local residents, members of the committee and the area’s MLA. During the discussion, residents highlighted issues related to alleged touts operating along busy streets in Calangute, a major tourist destination in Goa.

In a representation to the police, the committee called for enforcement drives to curb such activities and requested stricter monitoring of spas and massage parlours in the locality. Members also stressed the need to ensure that establishments comply with prescribed closing times and other regulations.

The Neighbourhood Watch Committee further assured the police of its cooperation, offering to assist authorities in maintaining safety and order in the area. Residents expressed hope that coordinated efforts between the community and law enforcement would help improve the overall environment in the locality.
