Adani Total Gas Limited on Sunday announced a significant reduction in the price of excess natural gas supplied to certain industrial customers, lowering the rate by nearly 30 per cent. The move comes as upstream gas prices eased slightly even as supply disruptions continue due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
The company said the price for excess gas usage will be reduced to ₹82.95 per standard cubic metre (SCM) from the earlier ₹119.90 per SCM. The revised rate will take effect from 6:00 am on March 16.
Adani Total Gas Limited, a joint venture between Adani Group and TotalEnergies, said the revision is intended to pass on the benefit of lower upstream gas prices to customers while maintaining a stable supply system during the current constraints.
Earlier, the company had advised commercial and industrial consumers to limit gas consumption to 40 per cent of their contracted volumes after India’s LNG supplies were disrupted due to halted ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz amid regional tensions.
Customers exceeding the cap were charged spot market rates for additional gas. While the excess gas price has now been reduced, other terms governing such supply remain unchanged.
The company also said it has sought clarification from GAIL (India) Limited regarding supply levels to industrial users under existing orders.
