Authorities have intensified action at the Prabhu Violetta Housing Complex after residents alleged sewage discharge within the premises, raising serious public health concerns.
The Water Resources Department (WRD) has sealed the borewell facility at the complex following complaints that contaminated water may have affected residents. Police teams also reached the site to assess the situation and maintain order.
Meanwhile, the Primary Health Centre Cortalim has deputed medical staff to the area as reported cases of diarrhoea have surged to 156. Additionally, two suspected cases of typhoid have been reported, further escalating concern among residents.
Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav stated that an on-site medical facility will be set up to provide immediate care and monitor the health of affected residents.
Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the source of contamination and prevent further spread of illness.
