US President Donald Trump on March 23 announced a five-day delay on any planned military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing “productive conversations” toward a “complete and total resolution” in the Middle East. This follows his earlier 48-hour ultimatum, in which he warned that the US would “obliterate” Iran’s power plants, starting with the largest, if the Strait of Hormuz was not fully opened and safe.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces destroyed the Qasimiyah Bridge in southern Lebanon, with President Joseph Aoun calling it a “prelude to ground invasion.” The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also launched targeted strikes in Tehran, focusing on Iranian regime infrastructure while intercepting incoming missiles.
Other regional incidents include a Qatari helicopter crash during routine duty, an explosion near a bulk carrier off the UAE coast, three ballistic missiles detected near Riyadh, and an Iranian missile strike on Arad, injuring 84 people, according to Magen David Adom.
The US and Israel continue to monitor Iran’s military movements closely. With tensions high in the Gulf and across the region, global attention remains fixed on the next steps of diplomatic negotiations and potential military escalation.
