Goa Govt Revokes TCP Board’s Zone Change Decision Under Section 39A, Sankhali Approval Withdrawn

In a key policy decision, the Government of Goa has rescinded the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board’s decision on a zone change listed under Serial No. 08, taken under Section 39A of the Goa TCP Act, 1974.

The move was formalised through a notification issued by the Town and Country Planning Department Goa, following a directive dated March 25, 2026.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had indicated that the provisional approval granted for the zone change in Sankhali would be withdrawn. The latest notification effectively implements that assurance, reversing the earlier decision of the TCP Board.

The development is seen as significant in the context of land use regulation and planning oversight in the state, particularly amid ongoing concerns over zoning changes and their impact on local communities.
