A tragic road accident at Assolda in Curchorem claimed the life of a 22-year-old late at night, after a car allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol rammed into a two-wheeler and fled the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Uttapal Naik, a resident of Sanvordem, who died on the spot due to the impact. A pillion rider travelling with him sustained injuries and was rushed to the Goa Medical College for treatment.
According to reports, the driver abandoned the vehicle after the collision and escaped, triggering a search operation by police.
The Quepem Police later apprehended the accused during a patrolling operation at around 2:30 am. Authorities suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Further investigation is currently underway to determine the full sequence of events and establish additional charges in the case.
