Candolim Pay-Parking Tender Row: Residents Move Court Alleging Unfair Bidding Clause

Residents of Candolim have raised objections over a controversial pay-parking tender, alleging that certain conditions in the bidding process are unfair and restrictive.

At the centre of the dispute is a clause mandating a minimum of two years’ prior experience for bidders, which locals claim limits fair competition and excludes eligible participants. Aggrieved residents have now challenged the tender in court, escalating the issue into a legal battle.

Responding to the concerns, Blaize Fernandes, Sarpanch of Candolim, stated that the condition was approved through a panchayat resolution and cannot be altered at this stage.

The matter is now before the judiciary, with residents seeking intervention to review the tender conditions. The outcome of the case is expected to have implications for local governance and transparency in public contracting processes in the region.
