Three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be eager to bounce back when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 2, after suffering a tough loss to Mumbai Indians.
KKR had posted a strong total of over 200 at the Wankhede Stadium, with skipper Ajinkya Rahane leading from the front with a solid 67 off 40 balls. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi also impressed with a crucial half-century, helping KKR set a challenging 221-run target.
However, MI’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton turned the game around with a dominant partnership, chasing down the target in just 19.1 overs. KKR’s bowling unit, missing key players, struggled to contain the run flow.
A concern for KKR ahead of the SRH clash is Rahane’s fitness. The captain had to leave the field midway through MI’s chase due to a leg injury, with vice-captain Rinku Singh stepping in as on-field leader.
As of now, there is no official confirmation on Rahane’s availability. KKR fans will be hoping their skipper recovers in time, as his presence could be crucial in stabilising the batting lineup and guiding the team in this must-win encounter.
