Concerns over rising slum settlements in Mapusa have intensified following a recent incident near the bus stand that drew public outrage. The reported attempt to transport a body without following proper procedures has once again highlighted the conditions in these areas.
MMC Councillor Adv. Narvekar stated that the steady growth of slums is becoming a serious issue for the city. He pointed out that such settlements not only raise safety and health concerns but also play a role in influencing local electoral outcomes. Stressing the need for urgent action, he urged authorities to effectively use redevelopment funds to address the problem and improve living standards for residents.
