A 24-year-old woman died by suicide nearly a month after a man allegedly injected her with HIV-positive blood when she refused to marry him, police said.
The incident dates back to March 11, when the accused, identified as Manohar, reportedly forced his way into the woman’s house and injected his HIV-infected blood into her shortly after she called off their proposed marriage. According to investigators, the accused and the victim were relatives, and their families had initially arranged the match.

Police said the woman’s parents had the man medically tested in September last year after learning that his parents were HIV-positive. The test confirmed that he too was infected, prompting the woman to immediately cancel the marriage proposal.
Following the alleged assault, the accused was arrested.
On Friday, weeks after the incident, the woman was found hanging at her residence. Family members rushed her to a government hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
